Singer Talwiinder has opened up about the making of his latest song ‘Assay Passay’, revealing that the track came together spontaneously during a freestyle session at a friend’s house on a rainy day.
‘Assay Passay’ is part of Talwiinder’s EP ‘Paiinted Feeliings’ and explores how the people and spaces around us can gradually shape our identity, often without us realising it.
The song delves into the subtle ways people we spend time with can influence how we speak, behave, think and perceive ourselves. That influence can be so gradual that a person may eventually feel like a different version of themselves.
“We made ‘Assay Passay’ during a freestyle session at a friend’s house on a rainy day. It wasn’t planned at all. As we kept working on it, this thought about how much the people around us can change us just stayed with me,” Talwiinder said.
“Sometimes you don’t even notice that you’re becoming a different version of yourself. I think we all experience emotions that are difficult to explain or put into words, and ‘Paiinted Feeliings’ came from that space for me, with each song capturing a different feeling, memory or moment,” he added.
Written, composed and performed by Talwiinder, ‘Assay Passay’ has been produced by Dropped Out and mixed and mastered by NDS.
Known for translating intimate emotions into immersive musical experiences, Talwiinder has developed a distinct musical identity through his signature ambient-pop sound. His work combines an otherworldly sonic atmosphere with emotions and experiences that are familiar to listeners.
With ‘Assay Passay’, he offers a glimpse into the world of his forthcoming EP ‘Paiinted Feeliings’, which centres on feelings, memories and moments that often remain unspoken.
