Businessman and actor Raj Kundra marked his birthday with the launch of his new production house, Akaal Films, announcing a new chapter in his creative journey focused on bringing Punjab-rooted stories to audiences around the world.
Taking to Instagram, Raj introduced the production house and said the venture was something he had wanted to start for a long time. He said Akaal Films would focus on stories of courage, identity and sacrifice, with particular emphasis on Punjab, its people, history and spirit.
Describing the venture as a home for stories of those who came before, Raj said the narratives would remain rooted in Punjab while being told for a global audience.
“With Waheguru Ji’s blessings, today I introduce AKAAL FILMS, my production house, and a journey I’ve wanted to begin for a long time. A home for stories of courage. Stories of identity. Stories of sacrifice. Stories of those who came before us. Stories rooted in Punjab, its people, its history and its spirit, but told for the world,” he wrote.
“This is more than a production house for me. AKAAL FILMS… The journey begins. Waheguru Mehar Kare,” he added.
Raj Kundra turned a year older on September 9. His wife and actress Shilpa Shetty also marked the occasion with a heartfelt birthday message, affectionately calling him her “darling Cookie” and wishing him happiness, love, laughter and abundance.
“My darling Cookie, We celebrate you every day, but today is extra special because it’s your birthday! May you always be blessed, protected, happy, and surrounded by abundance, love, and laughter,” Shilpa wrote.
She added, “Here’s to another year of you being my favourite person to annoy, laugh with, and do life alongside. Happy Birthday, my Cookie. Life is simply sweeter with you.”
The launch of Akaal Films alongside his birthday celebrations marks a new creative venture for Raj, who has expressed an ambition to tell stories connected to Punjab and its heritage for viewers beyond India.
