Punjab Police conducted 581 raids across the state on Tuesday as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 238 people and recovering 24 weapons, while preventive action was initiated against 255 individuals.
The campaign, launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make the state free of gangster-related activities. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab at identified locations linked to gangster associates.
On the 231st day of the campaign, police also arrested seven proclaimed offenders (POs). With Tuesday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 68,937.
Punjab Police has urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters, crime and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. Information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 556th day. As many as 100 alleged drug smugglers were arrested during the day, with 353 grams of heroin, 7 kg of ganja, 6 kg of poppy husk and 285 intoxicant pills recovered from their possession.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 77,559.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded nine individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday.
