Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a personal revelation on the sets of his quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, explaining the reason behind wearing the same lightly tinted glasses for nearly 25 years.
The veteran actor revealed that he added a subtle tint to his spectacles to hide signs of ageing around his eyes, saying that a person’s age is often reflected through their eyes.
Recalling an interaction with the show’s crew about his glasses, Amitabh said, “Someone told me that my glasses were not right. I asked what was wrong, as I had been wearing the same glasses for 25 years. They said there was a slight yellow tint appearing in them. I told them that I had added a little tint.”
Explaining his reason, the actor said that ageing becomes visible through the eyes and the tint was his way of concealing those signs.
“Look, how do you recognise the age of an elderly person? Through their eyes. My eyes have also reached that stage of ageing, so I added a little tint to hide it,” he shared.
Before narrating the anecdote, Bachchan greeted the audience and apologised for the delay in the recording. He explained that the first day of a new season involves several technical preparations and adjustments, which take additional time.
“First of all, I apologise with folded hands for the delay because today is the first recording of this new phase. Small things take time to be set up,” he said.
Amitabh had recently revealed on his personal blog that he had been working continuously for nearly 24 hours for Kaun Banega Crorepati. The upcoming season of the popular quiz show is scheduled to premiere on August 10.
