BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday made an earnest appeal to the people of Punjab to repose their trust and faith in the BJP the way people in Bengal have done so that Punjab gets a double-engine government under the leadership of Kewal Singh Dhillon to realise the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Punjabis.
Addressing party workers at the installation ceremony of the new Punjab BJP president, Chugh recalled how the Prime Minister has been working assiduously for Punjab and its people with a number of new initiatives.
He said the installation of Sardar Keval Singh Dhillon as the new Punjab BJP president marked the beginning of a new chapter for the party in the state.
The programme commenced with an Ardas seeking the blessings of the Guru Sahib, while a grand portrait of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh was installed at the BJP headquarters.
Addressing party workers and leaders, Chugh said Maharaja Ranjit Singh was not merely a great ruler but a symbol of Punjab’s pride, self-respect, courage and composite culture. Under his leadership, Punjab emerged as a centre of prosperity, security and communal harmony. His legacy continues to inspire generations and provides a roadmap for a strong and progressive Punjab, he added.
Chugh alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government failed to show due respect to Punjab’s rich heritage after assuming office. He claimed that the decision of the Bhagwant Mann government to remove portraits of Maharaja Ranjit Singh from government offices and buildings had hurt the sentiments of people across Punjab and the Sikh community.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future prospects, Chugh said the BJP would contest all 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab under the leadership of Keval Singh Dhillon. He asserted that the party would form a double-engine government in the state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and work towards restoring Punjab’s glory by ensuring development, employment generation, investment and good governance.
