The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Monday has arrested a revenue Patwari Tejinder Pal Singh alias Bhatti and his assistant Surinder Singh for demanding a bribe of Rs. 1,20,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said both the aforementioned accused have been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Gian Chand, a resident of Shaktinagar, Derabassi, SAS Nagar district.
He further added that the the complainant had alleged in his complaint that the accomplice of Patwari have been demanding Rs. 1,50,000 as bribe from him in lieu of correction in the mutation of a plot bought in the year 2002 and the deal was settled for Rs. 1.20,000.
The said complainant had recorded the entire conversation on his phone taken place with the accused and submitted it to the VB as an evidence.
The spokesperson informed that during investigation, the allegations levelled in the complaint found to be correct and true that the accused had demanded bribe from the complainant for the above said motive.
On the basis of this enquiry a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered regarding both the accused at VB police station, Flying Squad-1, Punjab at Mohali. Both the accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
