Amritsar, April 24, 2014 (YP Bureau)
Former Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh today reminded BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi regarding the promise he had made to Punjabi farmers in Gujarat at a rally in Punjab.
In an open letter to Modi on the eve of his visit to Amritsar, copies of which were released to the press, Capt Amarinder said, that nothing has been done so far despite assurance by Modi.
Referring to the issue of Gujarat farmers and the promise made by Modi, Captain said, “let me remind you of your promise about the Punjabi farmers in Gujarat, you made at Jagraon, during your first rally in Punjab on February 23, wherein you had publicly committed, albeit vaguely, that nobody will be forced out of Gujarat”.
He said, “everybody in Punjab assumed that your government will withdraw the appeal against the Gujarat High Court verdict that goes in their favour. Till now, your government has not done anything, not taken any initiative which could reveal your sincerity in meeting that commitment”.
