J&K: Court dismisses corruption complaint against former Chief Secy

A Special Judge, Anti‑Corruption Court in J&K’s Jammu has dismissed a corruption complaint against former Chief Secretary Arun Mehta in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) case, officials said on Saturday.

Officials said the Special Judge, Anti‑Corruption Court, Jammu, dismissed a corruption complaint filed against former Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta (Retd. IAS) and other officers of the Jal Shakti Department over the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The complaint, filed by retired IAS officer A.K. Parmar, alleged large‑scale irregularities and corruption in the execution of the flagship water supply scheme.

However, in its order dated May 30, 2026, the court accepted the findings of the Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB), which concluded that the allegations were baseless and unsupported by evidence.

According to the ACB report, a detailed scrutiny of official records revealed no misappropriation of funds and no violations in the tendering process related to the procurement of GI, DI and HDPE pipes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The court also noted that this was the second complaint filed by Parmar on the same issue. His earlier complaint, registered as Complaint No. 10/2025, had already been dismissed by the same court on April 20, 2026.

In a related development, the Central Information Commission (CIC) had earlier disposed of Parmar’s complaints regarding RTI applications submitted to the Chief Engineers of PHE Kashmir and PHE Jammu.

In its order dated November 20, 2025, the Commission observed that the departments had provided appropriate replies under the RTI Act and that the information sought was extensive and already available in the public domain.

The CIC further stated that there was no deliberate or wilful denial of information by the concerned authorities.

With the dismissal of the complaint, the court has effectively brought the allegations against former Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta and the concerned Jal Shakti Department officials to a close, based on the findings placed before it by the investigating agency.(Agency)
