As violence against civilians continues unabated across Balochistan, leading human rights organisations on Tuesday brought to light the extrajudicial killing of one civilian and the enforced disappearance of three others allegedly at the hands of Pakistani forces.
Human rights body Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) revealed the dead body of 15-year-old student Saif Jan was dumped in the Airport Road area in the Panjgur district on Monday, after he had remained missing for nearly three months.
According to the BYC, Safi Jan was extrajudicially killed by Pakistan-backed death squads following his enforced disappearance.
Condemning the incident, the BYC said, “When the state sentences BYC leaders to life imprisonment without proving any crime, why does it never take action against those responsible for these killings?”
The rights body called on international human rights organisations and the global community to take urgent action, stressing that the people of Balochistan continue to face severe oppression and that their voices must not be ignored.
Highlighting the atrocities against civilians in Balochistan, human rights body Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) on Tuesday alleged that three young Baloch youths were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.
The victims were identified as 22-year-old Hammal Khan, 20-year-old Azizullah, and 23-year-old Saddique.
Expressing grave concern, the BVJ said, “Their families continue to endure uncertainty, anguish, and the denial of justice while the authorities fail to disclose their whereabouts or ensure accountability. Enforced disappearance is a grave violation of fundamental human rights and reflects a continuing pattern of impunity that demands urgent international attention.”
Earlier on Sunday, Paank, the Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department, strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of elderly Baloch farmer Abdullah Mussa by Pakistani forces on June 28 at a military checkpoint in Gwadar district.
“The detention of an elderly civilian is deeply condemnable and raises serious human rights concerns. We demand the immediate disclosure of his whereabouts and his safe release,” the rights body stated.
Balochistan continues to reel under relentless atrocities by the Pakistani forces, marked by enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians at an unprecedented level.(Agency)
