Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the arrest of former Delhi Minister and AAP Punjab co-in-charge Satyendar Jain, after a court granted him bail.
Kejriwal questioned the rationale behind Jain’s arrest, pointing out that he was not even taken into police custody for interrogation. He claimed the case against the senior AAP leader was weak and that he secured bail within 10 days.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said, “Satyendar Jain got bail on Thursday. Why was he arrested? No one understands. In any case, a person is sent to custody to be interrogated. Police custody is sought for this. After the police custody is over, the person goes to judicial custody.”
He added that Jain was not sent to police custody and alleged that no interrogation was conducted before he was sent to judicial custody.
“The case against him was so weak that he got bail in just ten days,” Kejriwal said.
Targeting PM Modi, the AAP leader asked, “What did you achieve from this?” He alleged that the Prime Minister was more focused on sending political opponents to jail than governing the country.
Kejriwal further said, “How on earth did you become the Prime Minister of the country? You should have been the Station House Officer (SHO) of some village. Your antics are just like that.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomed Jain’s bail, describing it as a victory for truth and justice.
“Satyamev Jayate. The granting of bail to senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain is a major victory for truth and justice. No matter how hard authoritarian forces may try, truth can never be suppressed or defeated,” Mann said.
AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia also welcomed the development and accused the BJP of using investigative agencies for political purposes.
“Perhaps never in the history of the world has so much falsehood been spoken as the lies BJP has made agencies like the ACB and CBI tell in order to sustain its petty politics. But truth alone triumphs,” Sisodia said.
