Berlin, July 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

At least one person was killed and 17 others were injured, several of them critically, after a car drove into a crowd during Berlin’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) Pride parade on Saturday evening, police said.

The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. local time in central Berlin during the city’s annual Pride celebrations, which had drawn tens of thousands of participants. Police said the driver of a white vehicle rammed into the crowd, triggering a major emergency response.

Authorities later revised the casualty toll to 17 injured, including one person who died and several others with life-threatening injuries. An information centre has been set up to assist relatives of those affected.

The event was immediately called off, and the area was sealed as police, firefighters and emergency medical teams rushed to the scene to treat the injured and secure the area.

According to German news agency dpa, some witnesses reported that several victims had also suffered stab wounds. Police said investigators were examining whether there was a second phase to the attack after the vehicle entered the crowd.

A large-scale search has been launched for one or more suspects, while the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Berlin Governing Mayor Kai Wegner condemned the attack, describing it as “an attack on our free and open society.” He expressed condolences to the victims and their families and praised emergency responders for their swift action.
