As part of the series of state-level events being organised by the Punjab Government to commemorate the *650th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, various religious, social and awareness programmes will also be held across District Amritsar.
To review the preparations for these events, an important meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, with officials from different departments in attendance.
Presiding over the meeting, Mrs. Paramjit Kaur informed that a special Kirtan Samagam dedicated to Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji will be organised by the district administration on *June 11, 2026, at **Dussehra Ground, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar.
Renowned Kirtani Jathas will perform Gurbani Kirtan and spiritually enlighten the devotees. She further stated that a special blood donation camp will also be organised at the venue on the same day to encourage maximum public participation in this noble cause.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that during the month of June, drone shows highlighting the life, teachings and invaluable contribution of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji will be organised in different Assembly constituencies of the district. In addition, documentary shows will be screened at the village level to inspire the younger generation with the great saint’s life and philosophy.
She stated that the life of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji conveys the message of social equality, brotherhood and service to humanity. Therefore, it is the collective responsibility of all concerned to organise these events with utmost devotion, dedication and efficient management. She directed the officials to ensure that no laxity is shown in the preparations and that all arrangements are completed well in time.
Mrs. Paramjit Kaur further informed that under the environment conservation campaign dedicated to the 650th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, 6.5 lakh saplings are being planted across District Amritsar. She said that this initiative will not only help make the environment greener but will also motivate people to contribute towards the protection of nature.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the event schedule, security arrangements, traffic management, sanitation, health services, drinking water facilities and other basic amenities. Among those present were SDM Amritsar-II Mr. Gurminder Singh, Regional Transport Authority Mr. Hitesh Kumar, Municipal Corporation SE Mr. Sandeep Singh, Tourism Officer Mr. Sukhman Singh, District Health Officer Dr. Rama, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinderpal Kaur, and officials from various departments.
