Patna, October 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has promised that ensuring 7th Pay Commission pay scales for all categories of teachers in Bihar before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections will be a guarantee of his party.

Addressing a ‘Teacher Dialogue’ programme in Muzaffarpur, Kishor said the long-standing concerns of unaided teachers would be addressed and their status regularised. He noted that Bihar’s teaching community is divided into several categories, including contractual, special and guest teachers.

Reiterating his party’s commitment to extending the 7th Pay Commission scale to all teachers, Kishor said state-level norms would be framed for assigning teachers non-academic duties. This, he said, would prevent district-level officials from arbitrarily deploying teachers for such work.

Kishor said the objective was to end what he described as the “exploitation” of teachers and provide greater clarity on their responsibilities.

On the Graduates’ constituency election, he said that if Jan Suraaj candidate B. Mohan wins, the party would take responsibility for securing employment for 10,000 educated unemployed youths.

He said Shyam Nandan Yadav would champion teachers’ concerns, while B. Mohan would represent the interests of graduates.

Taking aim at the Janata Dal-United, Kishor said former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had been the party’s main strength and claimed that the JD(U) had no future as Kumar became politically inactive.

He further alleged that the JD(U) was being controlled by the BJP and predicted that the party would either become the BJP’s “B-team” or merge with it within the next three to four years.

Responding to questions over Jan Suraaj’s ability to implement its promises while being out of power, Kishor claimed that his party’s advocacy had contributed to the increase in the elderly pension from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 and the restoration of the Student Credit Card limit from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh.
