The Society for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension (SVAHE), has inducted Dr. HK Verma, Principal, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar as ‘Fellow’ of the Society for his marvelous contribution in promoting Veterinary Extension for the welfare and upliftment and bringing sustainability for Livestock farmers.
Dr. Verma who presented a lead paper at the international conference at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadand and chaired technical session of the event is a known name in extension education.
The inaugural function was presided over by Vice-Chancellor, Dr. KN Selvakumar of TANUVAS and Dr. K.C. Veeranna, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University.
Elated over his fellowship, Dr.Verma said Dr. Narmatha, Dean cum Organizing Secretary of the conference. Dr. Leah Carmichael, Director of Active Learning, University of Georgia, USA were the special ‘Guest of Honor’ to boost the morale of Extension Scientists during the Conference which was organized under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), Chennai.
The theme of the conference was “Innovative Education, Research and Extension Approaches for Transmitting Scientific Know-How to Augment Livestock Production in the Contemporary Scenario”.
The society has already been credited with five national conferences in the different state Veterinary colleges of repute.
It is a matter of pride for the society that about 150 delegates from 15 states & from various other countries viz USA, UAE, Malaysia, Bangladesh participated to share their experience/contribution to the farming community.
Dr. SK Kansal, Treasurer, SVAHE and Head, Department of Veterinary Extension, KCVAS, informed that 32 lead papers & 130 oral presentations were made during the conference, The recommendations of the conference will be shared with the concerned quarters for betterment of the farming community and academic cum-research activities.
