The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested Sub-Divisional Clerk (SDC) Dharambir Goyat, posted at Division No. 2 of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in Jind, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to the complaint, the accused had demanded three per cent of a pending bill amounting to around Rs 5 lakh in exchange for facilitating its payment and getting the token cleared from the department’s headquarters.
The complainant had undertaken maintenance work on generators and motors for PHED Division No. 2, Jind. The payment for the work was pending. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 to facilitate the release of the payment and clearance of the token.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB Jind unit laid a trap and caught Goyat red-handed while he was allegedly accepting the bribe at the SDO office in the department’s Division No. 2.
An FIR (No. 30) was registered on November 5, 2026, at Police Station SV&ACB Karnal under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused was arrested the same day.
Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
