Haryana’s State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Food and Supplies Officer (AFSO) posted in Bhiwani, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The officer had reportedly demanded a total of Rs 1.50 lakh for facilitating the issuance of a ration depot licence.
According to the complaint, the bribe was sought for getting a ration depot licence issued in the name of Suman, wife of Krishan. Suman had authorised the complainant to pursue the matter on her behalf.
The complainant alleged that Mukesh Kumar had already accepted Rs 20,000. The ACB team subsequently caught him red-handed while accepting another Rs 1 lakh. The remaining Rs 30,000 was allegedly to be paid after completion of the work.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB Unit Bhiwani laid a trap and arrested the officer. The prescribed procedure under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, was followed during the operation.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station SV&ACB Hisar. He was arrested on November 5, and further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
