Amritsar, June 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla has written to Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, expressing gratitude for the restoration of the Amritsar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express and urging the extension of the service from Katra to Srinagar.
As MP Aujla was occupied with meetings in New Delhi, his son Babar Aujla and SDO Nitin personally handed over the letter to Railway Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and presented the demand at amritsar railway station today.
Aujla stated that the resumption of the Vande Bharat service from June 16 has provided major relief to passengers from Amritsar, Batala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and border areas of Punjab.
Referring to the successful operationalization of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), he emphasized that extending the train to Srinagar would establish the first direct semi-high-speed rail connectivity between Punjab and the Kashmir Valley, significantly boosting tourism, religious travel, and trade activities.
In addition, he raised two other important public demands before the Railway Minister. He sought the extension of Train No. 74674 Pathankot–Verka DMU up to Amritsar Junction and requested that the Delhi–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express also operate on Fridays, ensuring greater convenience for passengers.
