CT Group and Punjab Press Club Revive Jalandhar’s Historic Clock Tower After 34 Years

Jalandhar, June 16, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

In a landmark initiative to preserve the city’s heritage, CT Group, in collaboration with Punjab Press Club, unveiled the restored Historic Clock Tower at Company Bagh, bringing back to life one of Jalandhar’s most iconic landmarks after 34 years.

The Clock Tower, whose foundation was laid on February 10, 1982, had long served as a trusted source of time and a prominent symbol of Jalandhar. Over the years, it became an integral part of the city’s identity. However, after ceasing operations in 1992, the structure stood silent for decades, evoking memories of a bygone era.

Recognizing its historical and emotional significance, CT Group joined hands with Punjab Press Club to undertake the restoration of both the heritage structure and its iconic clock mechanism. The initiative was envisioned by S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor, CT University, who believes that preserving heritage is essential to preserving a city’s identity and cultural roots.

Speaking on the occasion, S. Charanjit Singh Channi said that the Clock Tower is much more than a physical structure. “It is a symbol of our shared memories, traditions, and history. By restoring this landmark, we are preserving an important chapter of Jalandhar’s legacy and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots,” he said.

Months of detailed research, planning, technical assessment, and restoration work were undertaken to revive the landmark while retaining its historical authenticity. The vision was further strengthened through the support and collaboration of Jaspreet Singh Saini, President, Punjab Press Club, and Jatinderpal Singh, General Manager, Punjab Press Club, whose efforts played a crucial role in transforming the restoration project into reality.

Addressing the gathering, Jaspreet Singh Saini said that the Clock Tower has always been a cherished symbol of Jalandhar. He noted that its restoration reflects a collective commitment towards preserving the city’s heritage and passing it on to future generations.

The unveiling ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof (Dr) Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group, and Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, CT Group, alongside senior members of Punjab Press Club, including Satnam Singh Manak, Senior Media Professional and Mentor, Punjab Press Club; Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, Former President, Punjab Press Club; Mandeep Sharma, Vice President; Rajesh Thapa, Senior Vice President; Tejinder Kaur Thind, Vice President; Paramjit Singh Rangpuri, Vice President; Puneet Sehgal, General Secretary; Rajesh Yogi, Secretary; Sukrant Safari, Joint Secretary; Shiv Sharma, Treasurer; and Navien Sharma, MD, League One Media.

More than the restoration of a monument, the initiative represents the preservation of heritage, culture, and collective memory. The restored Clock Tower now stands once again as a symbol of civic pride, cultural continuity, and the shared responsibility of safeguarding Jalandhar’s rich legacy for generations to come.
