At least four civilians were allegedly killed extrajudicially in Balochistan after being subjected to enforced disappearances, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a human rights organisation, alleged on Thursday.
The BYC said the bodies of 60-year-old shopkeeper Elahi Baksh and 32-year-old driver Muneer Ahmad were found dumped in the Laghorzard area of the Naal region on November 2.
According to the organisation, Pakistan Frontier Corps personnel forcibly took Baksh from his home on October 30, after which his whereabouts remained unknown. Muneer was allegedly taken from his home by a Pakistan-backed death squad on October 2, leaving his family without information about his whereabouts.
“Enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing are grave violations of the fundamental rights to life, liberty, and human dignity,” the BYC said, calling for an independent investigation, accountability and justice for Baksh’s family.
The organisation also reported that Salahuddin was killed in an alleged fake encounter on October 31, with his body found near the Zardain Koti area of Kharan district. He had allegedly been forcibly disappeared along with his brother Azar by Pakistani security forces from their home on August 7.
Condemning the incident, the BYC said such cases reflected a disturbing pattern in which people subjected to enforced disappearance were later found dead, with their killings presented as fake encounters.
In another incident, the mutilated body of 17-year-old student Reyan Ulfath was found in the Kulanch area of the Pasni region on October 22, eight days after he went missing. The BYC alleged that death squads had forcibly taken him from his home on October 16.
The organisation said the killing of a teenage student raised serious concerns over alleged human rights violations in Balochistan and called for the protection of young people from disappearance and violence.
The BYC urged international human rights organisations, the United Nations and the global community to take immediate notice of the alleged extrajudicial killings and the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan.
