Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Women Wing President and Moga MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora has alleged that she was pressured to join the BJP during a 42-hour Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at her residence and hospital, with a ministerial position allegedly offered in return. She claimed that the agency recovered no money during the searches and returned empty-handed.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Arora said her family, including her young children, remained inside the house during the prolonged operation. She claimed that despite extensive searches at her residence and hospital, the ED could not recover even a single penny.
The AAP leader said she was questioned about transactions involving individuals identified as Bipan Unkara and Rakesh Sitara, relating to a period before the formation of the present government. She alleged that no evidence of money laundering or irregularities was found and that the proceedings were unnecessarily prolonged despite the search being effectively completed by noon.
Arora further alleged that she was repeatedly pressured to join the BJP during the raid and was offered a ministerial position. She said she rejected the offer, asserting that her loyalty to AAP and its leadership, including Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, remained unwavering.
She said she would not be tempted by ministerial positions, election tickets or political posts and was prepared to face further raids. Arora also accused the BJP of resorting to political pressure out of fear of defeat in Punjab, saying voters would respond to such tactics in the upcoming elections.
AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu also alleged that the ED raid was aimed at pressuring the Moga MLA to switch political allegiance. He claimed that the agency recovered nothing despite continuous searches and that Arora was offered senior positions in exchange for joining the BJP.
Pannu accused the Central Government of misusing investigative agencies to pressure opposition leaders. He said AAP leaders could not be intimidated or persuaded through threats and inducements and would remain committed to the party and the people of Punjab.
