The Congress party has named former Punjab Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu as its candidate for Ludhiana West Bypoll.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of AAP MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi Bassi. Gogi defeated Ashu in the 2022 general elections with a margin of 7512 votes.
Ashu was booked in a scam and remained in jail but has been acquitted by a court of law.
AAP has already declared its Rajya Sabha Member Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for this bypoll. BJP and Akali Dal are still to announce their candidates for high stakes by-election.
