The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the undergraduate academic programmes of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was conducted successfully today. Candidates participated enthusiastically in the examination held at various centres established for the purpose.
According to official information provided by PAU Registrar Dr Rishi Pal Singh, IAS, a total of 4,267 candidates had applied for admission to various undergraduate programmes for the academic session 2026-27. Of these, 3,703 candidates appeared in the entrance examination for 566 seats available across different undergraduate courses, registering an overall attendance of 87 per cent.
Sharing further details, Dr Rishi Pal Singh informed that male candidates constituted 46.12 per cent of the total applicants who appeared for the examination, while female candidates accounted for 53.88 per cent. The higher participation of female candidates reflects the growing interest of young women in agricultural and allied sciences education.
To ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination, PAU established 16 examination centres, including six centres outside the university campus. Elaborate arrangements were made by the university administration for the successful conduct of the test.
The university authorities appreciated the cooperation extended by the examination staff, candidates and their parents in ensuring the peaceful and orderly conduct of the entrance examination.
