Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, IAS, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting in Ludhiana to assess the progress of the ongoing house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls in Punjab.
The meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Anindita Mitra, IAS, along with Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of Ludhiana, Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar, Faridkot, Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Malerkotla.
The review focused on the implementation of the ongoing field exercise involving the door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms, a key component of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision programme aimed at updating electoral rolls.
District Election Officers briefed the Deputy Election Commissioner on the progress of the exercise in their respective districts and shared updates on measures being taken to ensure timely completion of the revision process.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a comprehensive electoral roll verification exercise undertaken by the Election Commission of India to maintain accurate, inclusive and updated voter lists through extensive field-level verification.
The review meeting formed part of the Election Commission’s continuing monitoring of the electoral roll revision programme across Punjab in preparation for future electoral exercises.
