Mussoorie Municipal Council receives threatening email; probe on

Mussoorie, June 23, 2026

Mussoorie Municipal Council and the SDM’s office received threatening emails on Tuesday, officials said, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the authenticity and source of the message.

Following the threatening email, panic gripped the tourist town. Officials said that the email was sent by the ‘Khalistan National Army’ and threatened bomb blasts at the municipal office as well as several key locations in Uttarakhand and Delhi.

Upon receiving information, the police, administration, and Intelligence agencies swung into action. The Municipal Council’s premises are being searched. So far, nothing suspicious has been found, according to the officials.

Security at the municipal complex has been stepped up, and a close watch is being kept for any suspicious activity. Treating the matter seriously, the cyber cell has also been engaged in the investigation.

Mussoorie Station House Officer (SHO) Devendra Chauhan stated that the authenticity and source of the threatening email are being verified.

“Technical evidence is being gathered to identify the individual or organisation behind the email. The police are examining IP addresses, server details, and other digital footprints,” he added.

The administration has urged the public not to pay heed to rumours and to report any suspicious objects or individuals to the police immediately.

While the situation is currently normal, security agencies remain fully alert to any potential threat.

Earlier on June 10, bomb threat emails were sent to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters and a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office, triggering a major security response before police declared the threats a hoax following extensive searches.

The emails, sent from an unidentified account, claimed bombs would explode at the three locations at specific times at the CMO, AMC office and the RSS office.

Security agencies immediately activated standard emergency protocols, deploying Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams and conducting searches at the threatened premises. No explosives or suspicious objects were found.(Agency)
