The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, on Friday, raised important issues related to the health sector in the parliament. The AAP MP demanded PGI like medical college and hospital for his constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib. He also asked the Modi government to release Punjab’s pending funds of NHM as soon as possible.

Addressing in the parliament, Malvinder Singh Kang said that our sector needs special attention and the government needs to take revolutionary steps to improve this sector.

Giving examples of the Mann government in Punjab, Kang said that in Punjab the AAP government is running schemes like Farishtey where a person is awarded for helping the people in road accidents and a unique initiative like SSF (Sadak Surkheya Force) where specially equipped police vehicles are given and trained police force is formed to help the people in road accidents on highways.

Kang further said that the Mann government has opened 829 Aam Aadmi clinics in Punjab where 1.75 crore people have been treated so far and more than 40 tests are free there, so the early diagnosis of many diseases have become possible. Kang said that the central government should bring similar schemes to improve the health sector in the entire nation.

Kang said that Punjab’s capital Chandigarh has a PGI but it is over burdened. People from four states and a UT depends on it. He asked for a similar medical college and hospital for his constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib. Kang said that it will be beneficial for the people of Punjab as well as Himachal Pradesh.

He also demanded the release of pending National Health Mission fund and said that the central government should give Punjab its 1100 crore rupees as soon as possible.

AAP leader further said that our youth goes to countries like Russia and Ukraine for medical studies, we need to develop world class level medical colleges, training and research institutes so that our youth does not have to go far from their homes and country for medical education.

Concluding his speech, Kang said that Punjab is a border state, drugs are smuggled into the state from the other side of the border with the help of drones. Punjab MP said that the drones registation should be done.

He added that the Punjab government is helping the addicted youths to get clean, helping them to improve their health and giving them employment to keep them away from drugs.

So the central government should give Punjab a special package to tackle the problems of drug smuggling into the state and to help the youth of Punjab to get back on the right track again.
