AAP Fully Prepared to Protect People’s Rights; Not a Single Punjabi’s Vote Will Be Allowed to Be Deleted: Aman Arora on SIR in Punjab

Ludhiana, May 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party’s working committee meeting was held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan in Ludhiana under the leadership of AAP Punjab President Aman Arora. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and AAP Punjab In-Charge Manish Sisodia, Punjab Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, district presidents, constituency in-charges, trade wings, youth wings and party’s office-bearers attended the meeting in large numbers.

The main agenda of the meeting was to stop the wrongful deletion of votes through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Punjab and to protect voters’ rights.

During the meeting, AAP leaders launched sharp attacks on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that the BJP is using new political tactics keeping the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections in mind. Party leaders said that after misusing agencies like the ED and CBI, the BJP is now attempting to weaken democracy in Punjab through SIR, which will not be allowed to succeed at any cost.

AAP Punjab President Aman Arora, slamming the BJP, said preparations are being made to delete genuine votes in Punjab through SIR ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. He said the Aam Aadmi Party is fully prepared to protect people’s democratic rights and Punjabi voters will not be allowed to lose their votes under any circumstances.

Targeting the Central Government over the increase in petrol and diesel prices, Aman Arora said that the Centre has completely failed on the matter of inflation. He said that common people are already suffering from rising prices and now the government is burdening them further by increasing fuel prices.

Speaking on ED and CBI actions, Aman Arora said the BJP is using central agencies as political weapons. He alleged that opposition leaders are trapped in false cases to create pressure on them and later forced to join the BJP. “Once leaders enter BJP’s ‘washing machine’, they suddenly become clean,” Arora remarked, calling it the murder of democracy.

He claimed that similar tactics were used in West Bengal where votes were allegedly deleted and the BJP later gained political advantage, but asserted that Punjab would not allow such actions. He said the people of Punjab know how to protect democracy and their constitutional rights.

Talking about Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections, Aman Arora said the Bhagwant Mann government has carried out several development and welfare works during the last four-and-a-half years and the party is going to the people on the basis of their performance. He expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party would register a major victory in the upcoming local body elections.

During the meeting, Manish Sisodia said that the BJP is searching for political ground in Punjab and has now started using SIR as a new political weapon. He said that earlier the BJP tried to suppress opposition leaders through ED and CBI raids, and now it is planning to delete votes. Sisodia claimed that preparations are underway to remove lakhs of Punjabi voters and snatch away their democratic rights.

He said that the Aam Aadmi Party is taking the issue very seriously and strict monitoring will be ensured from booth to state level. Party volunteers, leaders, MLAs and ministers will step into the field to protect every single vote. He said no Punjabi will be allowed to face injustice and if any attempt is made to delete someone’s vote, AAP will strongly oppose it.

Calling the BJP “anti-Punjab,” Sisodia said the party is working with a policy of capturing Punjab’s resources and institutions. He alleged that BJP has long been trying to increase its influence over Chandigarh, Bhakra Dam and Panjab University, and is now using SIR to weaken Punjab’s political strength.

Referring to the arrest of AAP minister Sanjeev Arora, Sisodia alleged that Sanjeev Arora was implicated in a false case because he refused to bow before Narendra Modi and the BJP. He said some “traitor leaders” joined the BJP under pressure, but many leaders are still standing firm on their ideology and are therefore being targeted.

AAP State General Secretary Baltej Pannu said that SIR is a new political attack on Punjab. He said the party has prepared a large-scale strategy to stop it. Pannu said that BJP possesses weapons like ED, CBI and the Election Commission, which it misuses to capture power.

He claimed that in Delhi, Bihar and West Bengal too, large numbers of votes were deleted through SIR and later fake votes were allegedly created to influence elections. However, he said that in Punjab, AAP will monitor every booth and will not allow any irregularity.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, in his address, said that SIR is a dangerous conspiracy against Punjab. He said it is an attempt to snatch away the right to vote granted by B. R. Ambedkar.

Sandhwan said that once Punjabi voters are removed, new votes can later be created selectively to influence the electoral process. Calling it extremely dangerous, he said the Aam Aadmi Party is fully prepared to stop it.

He further alleged that various central agencies are functioning as BJP’s “election machinery.” Wherever elections are held, ED and CBI raids are first conducted to intimidate opponents and then political benefits are extracted through pressure tactics. Sandhwan said the people of Punjab will never accept such politics.

Several senior party leaders and cabinet ministers were also present during the meeting, including Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur, AAP State Working President Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi, General Secretary Deepak Bali along with several MLAs and office-bearers.
