Threat to CM Yogi: Mumbai Police Arrest 24-yrs-old IT Graduate Fatima Khan

Mumbai, November 3, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)
Mumbai Police arrested a 24-year-old woman, Fatima Khan, for allegedly sending a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The threat, delivered via WhatsApp to Mumbai’s Traffic Police Control Room, warned that Adityanath would meet the same fate as former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique if he did not resign within 10 days. This chilling message has sparked heightened security and a detailed investigation by the police.

The Threat and Arrest of Fatima Khan

The threatening message was received on Saturday from an unidentified number, warning Adityanath that he would be “killed like Baba Siddique” if he failed to step down as UP Chief Minister within 10 days. Mumbai Police quickly traced the message to Fatima Khan, an IT graduate residing in Ulhasnagar, Thane. She was promptly arrested on Sunday following the investigation.

According to sources, Khan, a BSc graduate in Information Technology, has been grappling with mental health challenges. She lives with her family in Thane, where her father is involved in the timber business.

Background on Baba Siddique’s Assassination and Security Concerns

Baba Siddique, a former minister and prominent political figure, was shot dead on October 12 outside his son’s office in Bandra, Mumbai.

The murder has led to heightened security concerns across Maharashtra, especially with an upcoming assembly election campaign visit anticipated by Adityanath. Suspected gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s group claimed responsibility for Siddique’s killing, citing alleged connections with Bollywood star Salman Khan and underworld figures, including Dawood Ibrahim.

Following Siddique’s assassination, Mumbai has seen a wave of death threats targeting high-profile figures, including Salman Khan. Earlier this year, the Bishnoi gang reportedly threatened Khan over his historical involvement in a blackbuck poaching case, leading to additional security for the actor after shots were fired near his home.

Ongoing Investigation and Security Measures

Mumbai Police remain vigilant, intensifying security for Adityanath as he prepares for a campaign trip to Maharashtra. His safety protocols have been significantly upgraded, and additional resources are being allocated to ensure his protection during public engagements.

In recent months, Mumbai Police have tackled various threats tied to high-profile individuals. These include arrests of individuals targeting Salman Khan with extortion demands, emphasizing the increased need for preventive action amidst rising security concerns. The arrest of Khan underscores Mumbai Police’s rapid response to emerging threats involving political leaders and public figures.

Implications and Broader Security Context

This incident highlights the ongoing security threats in Maharashtra, where political leaders, Bollywood personalities, and public officials are increasingly targeted by individuals linked to organized crime or motivated by personal grievances. With assembly elections approaching, police vigilance is expected to continue, and precautionary measures are likely to be reinforced across the state.
