Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today met representatives of the Numberdar Union, listened to their demands and assured that their legitimate concerns would be addressed on a priority.
During the meeting, representatives of the Numberdar Union demanded that a dedicated day be reserved exclusively for Numberdars to obtain health cards under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY). Responding to this, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that he would instruct all Deputy Commissioners to designate a special day for issuing health cards to Numberdars for their convenience. He added that a letter would soon be sent to all Deputy Commissioners directing them to reserve one day specifically for this purpose.
Regarding the Numberdars’ demand for an increase in their honorarium, the Cabinet Minister said that he would bring the matter to the attention of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and that every possible effort would be made to increase their honorarium.
He further stated that the Punjab Government is committed to the welfare of Numberdars and fully recognizes and respects the important role they play in the administrative structure of villages. He also carefully listened to the Numberdars’ other demands and assured them that all their legitimate demands would be resolved on a priority basis.
Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Sh. Anurag Verma, Special Secretary-cum-Director, Land Records, Sh. Paramvir and other officials were also present in the meeting.
