Chandigarh, June 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Giani Harpreet Singh, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) and former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has urged the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to seriously consider the written proposal from Dr. Rabinder Narayan, owner of GTC Network, in which he has offered to establish a Gurbani channel and hand it over to the ownership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the SGPC.
Dr. Narayan, who has nearly 25 years of experience in broadcasting live Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib through various channels, has uploaded a three‑page written document on his social media, expressing his spirit of service and dedication to the Guru.
Giani Harpreet Singh stated that for a long time, the Sikh sangat has felt that the rights to broadcast Gurbani should not be monopolised by any particular channel or group. Instead, there should be an open and transparent arrangement to spread the Guru’s word to as many Sikhs as possible.
At the time, the SGPC used to argue that no other channel had the resources for global broadcasting. In this context, when he was Jathedar, he had issued orders that the SGPC should establish its own channel within one month so that Gurbani broadcasting would be directly under the Panth’s control. Unfortunately, those orders have not been implemented to this day.
Now that the founder of GTC Network has offered to establish a 24‑hour global satellite and digital channel dedicated to the SGPC, this proposal must be considered seriously.
Giani Harpreet Singh further said that the SGPC should seize this opportunity in the interest of the Panth.
It should free itself from dependence on any single private channel for Gurbani broadcasting and, with the collective consultation of all Panthic institutions and organisations, establish an arrangement that is entirely under the ownership and supervision of the Panth. Gurbani is not the property of any single institution or channel – it is the shared heritage of the entire Sikh sangat.
