The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025 lit up with cinematic brilliance on Friday as some of the biggest names in Indian entertainment were honoured for their contributions. Among them, Abhishek Bachchan stood tall as one of the night’s most talked-about winners, taking home the Best Actor (Male) – Film award for his powerful performance in I Want to Talk.
This award adds to what has already been described as a breakthrough year for Bachchan — one that showcases a rare blend of critical acclaim and mass appeal. With performances in Be Happy, Dasvi, Housefull 5, Ghoomer, I Want to Talk and Kaalidhar Laapata he has steadily built a momentum that is impossible to ignore. Geetha Kailasam won Best Actress (Female) – Film for her role in Angammal, which also won Best Indie Film.
Other key recognitions included Aamir Khan, who received the Excellence in Cinema Award, Arvind Swamy for Leadership in Cinema, Vir Das as a Disruptor in Cinema, and Aditi Rao Hydari for her contribution to Diversity in Cinema.
