Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi has taken suo moto notice of two issues included non-possession of the Shamlat land (Common land) of village Bathoi Kalan in Patiala district to the people of Scheduled Castes despite depositing the due fee and the protest held after the case of truck driver suicide in village Niyal.
The spokesperson of the Commission said that in order to get information about the action taken so far by the district administration in both cases, Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav has been personally summoned on August 5, 2025.
In the case of truck driver suicide, the deceased Harpreet Singh belongs to the Scheduled Castes and in this case, the family of the deceased has been staging a protest by keeping the body on the road for the last 6 days.
