Punjab Police Arrest Doni Ball Gang Associate, Another Alleged Arms Smuggler; Illegal Weapons Seized

Jalandhar, June 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Police have arrested an alleged key associate of the foreign-based Doni Ball gang along with another suspected arms smuggler in two separate operations, recovering a cache of illegal firearms and ammunition from their possession.

The arrests were made as part of the Punjab Police’s ongoing campaign against organized crime, gang networks and illegal arms trafficking.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jalandhar Rural, Harvinder Singh Virk said the first accused, identified as Sukhjinder Singh alias Bittu of Kammoke village in Amritsar district, was arrested following a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

Police recovered a .30 bore pistol, three magazines, nine live cartridges, a 12-bore pump-action gun, and the Swift car (PB02-DU-4004) in which he was travelling.

According to the SSP, Sukhjinder Singh had been absconding in connection with a case registered at Mehatpur Police Station in March this year after allegedly fleeing during a police operation in which a foreign-made Glock pistol was recovered from another vehicle. He was arrested near Ghuman Palace on the Nakodar-Mehatpur Road during a naka operation after police acted on intelligence regarding his movement.

Police alleged that the accused had links with the foreign-based Doni Ball gang and was maintaining contact with its members. Officials said his arrest could help prevent future gang-related crimes and violent incidents.

The accused is being produced before the court to seek police remand for further interrogation. Investigators hope to identify the source of the recovered weapons, uncover any planned criminal activities, and trace individuals who may have provided logistical support or shelter to him.

In a separate operation, Punjab Police arrested Manish alias Jassa, a resident of Mona Kalan village in Hoshiarpur district, during naka checking near the canal bridge at Droli Kalan.

During his search, police allegedly recovered a .32 bore pistol, one magazine and two live cartridges. A case under the Arms Act has been registered, and the accused has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Police said they would seek his remand to ascertain the source of the weapon and examine his suspected involvement in illegal arms trafficking.

Officials added that investigations are also underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of both accused. Legal proceedings will be initiated, wherever applicable under law, to identify and attach assets allegedly acquired through illegal activities.

Police also confirmed that both accused have previously faced criminal cases, the details of which are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
