Punjab Will Firmly Oppose SIR Irregularities, No Tampering With Democracy Will be Tolerated: Sukhjinder Randhawa

Chandigarh, 16 May, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior Congress leader and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said Punjab has always stood against injustice and anti-democratic forces and will continue to protect its democratic rights. He highlighted Punjab’s historic resistance to the British and Mughals, emphasizing that today, Punjabis remain vigilant in safeguarding the state and democracy.

Randhawa raised concerns over alleged SIR processes and voter list irregularities, pointing to repeated complaints of vote tampering and fake votes across India. He stressed that reports of “100 votes per household” are alarming and called on the Supreme Court to intervene. He warned that attempts to manipulate votes in Punjab will not be tolerated.

Criticizing the central government’s economic policies, Randhawa said rising prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas are hitting ordinary citizens hard, particularly daily wage workers, small traders, and middle-class families.

He condemned the water-spraying incident against farmers in Chandigarh, stating that respecting farmers and elders is essential. He also demanded a fair investigation into the shooting incident involving Daljit Dosanjh’s PA and criticized delays in action.

On recent CBI raids, Randhawa questioned the Punjab government’s response, contrasting it with West Bengal’s assertive handling of central probes. He added that CM Bhagwant Singh Mann should focus on governance rather than rhetoric.

Randhawa concluded that Punjab’s citizens are fully aware and will defend the state and democratic rights through democratic means against any anti-democratic actions.
