SAS Nagar, November 15, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister today said that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has revived the pristine glory of the state by vigorously promoting its rich heritage, cultural identity, and traditional as well as martial sporting activities.

The Minister, who visited the Punjab Equestrian Festival 2.0 at Meadows, Palanpur in Mohali to witness Day-2 events, said that it is for the first time that a state-of-the-art equestrian ring has been developed by Punjab Government in collaboration with horse lovers on its own land belonging to Gram Panchayat Palanpur. This initiative, he said, ensures world-class infrastructure for horse lovers and equestrian enthusiasts.

During the event, the Minister also announced a cash prize of Rs 11,000 each for the Malwai Gidha and Jindua performing artists, acknowledging their lively contribution to the cultural showcase. He further highlighted the deep, long-standing relationship between humans and animals—including milch cattle, horses and pets—emphasizing their integral role in Punjab’s agrarian and cultural life.

Day-2 competitions witnessed spirited participation and exceptional performances across all categories. In the Preliminary Dressage (Open) event, Jyoti secured both the first and third positions, while Yuvraj and Keshav claimed second and fourth places respectively. The excitement continued in the Pole Bending events.

In GP1, Rajpal Singh (PPS) clinched first place, followed by Abhayuday Singh (PPS) and Sahibinderdeep Singh (PAP). In the GP2 category, Loveinder Singh (PPS) emerged victorious, with Sudip (Shiv Shakti) securing second and Samarpartap Singh (PPS) finishing third. The GP3 event saw Suhirad (PPS) take the top spot, Adil securing second, and Navneet and Arav jointly placing third. These results added vibrancy to the festival, reflecting the growing enthusiasm and high calibre of equestrian sport in Punjab.

Congratulating the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department for organising the festival for the second consecutive year, the Minister said that the annual event showcases Punjab’s glorious heritage with the participation of more than 500 domestic and foreign-breed equestrians. He added that the festival will also give a major fillip to adventure tourism in the state, especially given the scenic and ecologically rich forest surroundings of the venue.

MLA Chamkaur Sahib, Dr. Charanjit Singh Channi, also visited the festival and appreciated the Punjab Government’s efforts toward reviving and promoting Punjab’s traditional sporting and cultural legacy.

Both the dignitaries were welcomed by SDM Kharar Divya P, who briefed him about the various activities and shared that the event features not only equestrian competitions but also cultural and traditional performances such as Bhangra and Gidha, which are receiving enthusiastic response from the audience.

The festival has attracted horse lovers from across India, making it one of the most vibrant equestrian gatherings in the region.

Teams from the Medical and Animal Husbandry Departments, Sports Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Local Government and District Administration are working in close coordination to ensure the grand success of the event. Food stalls and exhibitions set up at the venue are also drawing large crowds.

Members of the organising team—Harjinder Singh Khosa, Deepinder Singh Brar and Harman Singh Khaira—expressed their gratitude to the Punjab Government, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and the District Administration. They said that establishing this horse ring in an environment-friendly landscape has fulfilled a long-standing dream of equestrian enthusiasts.
