London, July 17, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A 24-year-old Punjab-origin woman was fatally stabbed inside her home in west London while she slept beside her husband and their three-month-old baby, in a shocking attack that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
The victim, Kirandeep Kaur, was allegedly attacked by Daniel Sean James, 46, who is accused of forcing his way into the family’s home on Uxbridge Road in Hayes during the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to prosecutors, James had earlier stabbed a man in his 20s in the back on a nearby street before reaching the family’s residence. At around 7:50 a.m., he allegedly kicked in the front door and entered the house while the family was asleep.
The court was told that Kaur’s husband woke up after hearing his wife scream and saw a figure leaving the bedroom. Kaur had suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
Following the attack, the accused allegedly jumped from a window, breaking both his ankles before being arrested by police nearby. He was treated in hospital before being taken into custody.
James, a resident of Mercer Place, Pinner, has been charged with murder, attempted murder in connection with the earlier stabbing, and possession of a bladed weapon.
Appearing via video link before the Old Bailey from Wormwood Scrubs prison on Thursday, James was remanded in custody. Judge Nigel Lickley KC scheduled a plea hearing for October 1.
The brutal killing has left the couple’s three-month-old baby without a mother and has deeply saddened members of the Punjabi and Sikh communities in the United Kingdom.
