India’s first clean energy train to see eco launch by PM Modi in Haryana

Chandigarh, July 16, 2026

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday reviewed preparations and arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Jind on Friday, during which he will flag off India’s first hydrogen train from there-a milestone in an era of clean and sustainable transportation.

The Chief Minister said all programmes of PM Modi would be completely eco-friendly. CM Saini visited Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, the venue, and sought information regarding arrangements for all the programmes of the Prime Minister.

Thereafter, the Chief Minister reached the Jind railway station and reviewed preparations for the launch of the hydrogen train. He also issued necessary directions to the officers regarding the arrangements.

He inspected the entry arrangements for the public and VIPs, the executive lounge, cafeteria, and railway track, and took stock of the facilities provided to passengers.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister reviewed the preparations for the ‘Viksit Bharat-Viksit Haryana’ rally to be held at the Haryana Urban Development Authority ground opposite Eklavya Stadium.

He reviewed the seating arrangements for the public, parking arrangements, and the facilities being prepared for the public.

He directed the officials to ensure that people attending the rally do not face any inconvenience regarding drinking water and other amenities.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma led a special cleanliness drive as part of the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ campaign organised at the Gohana railway junction.

He participated in voluntary service to clean the railway premises. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that when India’s first hydrogen-powered train arrives at Gohana, it will not simply mark the arrival of a train; it will be a golden moment in the history of modern India.

He said it is with this spirit that they have undertaken this special cleanliness campaign at the railway station.

An eco-friendly rally will also be organised in Jind to mark the historic occasion, with participation expected from people across the region.

Describing July 17 as a landmark day for the state’s development and the expansion of public services, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said PM Modi would inaugurate several major development projects, aimed at strengthening healthcare services and modern infrastructure.

The projects include the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train on the Jind-Sonipat railway section, as well as the inauguration of the long-awaited Bhiwani Medical College and Koriawas Medical College in Mahendragarh, which are expected to significantly enhance healthcare access in south Haryana.

She said the opening of the new medical colleges in Bhiwani and Koriawas will enable residents to access quality healthcare closer to home, reducing the need to travel to larger cities for treatment and saving both time and money.

The institutions will also create better opportunities for local students pursuing medical education, she said, adding the government’s efforts to strengthen road infrastructure, modernise the railway network, and enhance the state’s healthcare system will provide fresh momentum to Haryana’s progress in the future.(Agency)
