Maximum temperature likely to soar up to 34-36 degrees Celsius in Kashmir in next 2 days

The local Met office said on Thursday that the maximum temperature is likely to rise to 35-36 degrees Celsius over the next two days in the Valley, after which a wet spell is expected in J&K.

A weather advisory by the local Met office said on July 16-18: Generally hot and humid weather with the possibility of a brief spell of rain/thundershower at a few places.

On July 19: Partly cloudy weather with a spell of light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places, with brief intense heavy showers at isolated places in the Jammu division.

On July 20-23: Generally cloudy weather with a few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower at most places (peak activity on July 21 and 22), with heavy rain/brief intense heavy showers at a few districts of the Kashmir division and the Jammu division.

On July 24-25: Brief spells of rain/thundershower at a few places.

The advisory said: “There is a possibility of heavy rainfall/brief intense heavy showers during July 19 and July 20-22 at a few districts of J&K towards late afternoon/evening hours/late night/morning hours.

“There is a possibility of flash floods/landslides/mudslides at a few vulnerable places in the Chenab Valley, the Pir Panjal Range, and a few hilly areas of the Kashmir division on July 20-22.

“Water logging and chances of minor flooding in a few low-lying areas. Significant rise in the water level in rivers/streams/local nallahs etc, especially in the Jammu division.

“Farmers are advised to suspend all farm operations during July 20-23.

“Travellers/transporters/tourists/trekkers are advised to plan accordingly,” the advisory said.(Agency)
