Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala, under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, formally commenced its first academic session at the new campus at Mohindra Kothi, near Fountain Chowk, Patiala, following a solemn prayer seeking blessings. The occasion assumed historic significance with the presence of Vice-Chancellors from Punjab’s premier universities alongside renowned American jurist and philanthropist, S. Jaspreet Singh Attorney.
In his welcoming address, Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JGND PSOU, extended a warm greeting to the distinguished dignitaries and stated that JGND PSOU is the only university in the state dedicated to covering the length and breadth of entire Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, and the founder Vice-Chancellor of JGND PSOU, remarked that the future belongs to open schooling, as contemporary society increasingly prioritises flexible, online learning models. Chief Guest S. Jaspreet Singh Attorney expressed the shared sentiment of the Punjabi diaspora, stating that Non-Resident Punjabis remain deeply concerned about the welfare of their homeland and are eager to collaborate with educational institutions to serve the youth of Punjab.
Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, lauded the exceptional zeal and unparalleled efforts of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh in steering the university forward. Extending his congratulations on the new campus, Prof. (Dr.) Pushpinder Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala, reaffirmed his continuous commitment and support to the institution. Prof. (Dr.) Jai Shankar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala, commended the university’s academic progression, particularly the introduction of law-related courses in the current session.
In a significant philanthropic gesture, Prof. (Dr.) Sarbjinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan Futuristic University, Sri Anandpur Sahib, announced that his institution would bear the complete educational fees for 100 needy students enrolling at JGND PSOU. The event witnessed the presence of the families of the visiting Vice-Chancellors, prominent international delegates, and senior university officials, including Dr. Kuldeep Walia, Director CIQA; Dr. Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean Academic Affairs; Dr. Navleen Multani, Associate Dean Research; Dr. Sulakshana, Associate Dean Student Welfare; and Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Public Relations Officer, JGND PSOU.
