Ludhiana, July 17, 2026

A convocation of the Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) was organised on Thursday at the World Skill Campus of Excellence, Government ITI Campus, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day.

The event witnessed the conferring of certificates and the distribution of appointment letters to 1,044 youth.

The function was graced by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria as the chief guest, while Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary presided over the ceremony.

The event was hosted by Padma Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha).

The event drew over 3,000 youth, industry representatives, educational institutions, employers, and distinguished personalities from across the state, making it one of the largest celebrations of World Youth Skills Day in the state.

Governor Kataria highly appreciated the remarkable work being undertaken in the field of skill development and employment generation.

He lauded Sahney’s visionary leadership and stated that the initiatives are empowering thousands of youth across Punjab by providing them with skills and dignified employment opportunities.

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary commended Sahney for creating world-class skill development centres in Punjab. He congratulated Sahney for his outstanding contribution towards youth empowerment and nation-building.

Addressing the gathering, Sahney stated that skill development and employment generation are the most effective solutions to the challenges of unemployment, drug abuse, and migration in Punjab.

He informed that the ‘Skill for Jobs’ scheme provides over 5,000 youth annually through its network of Multi Skill Development Centres across Punjab by imparting industry-linked and future-ready training.

He further stated that thousands of youth have secured employment in leading organisations across the nation.

Sahney said he has been successfully bridging the gap between industry requirements and youth aspirations by designing courses aligned with market demand and ensuring dignified employment opportunities for young people.

The dignitaries also visited the World Skills Campus of Excellence, where they interacted with trainees and inspected exhibitions and live demonstrations showcasing skills in artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, and various emerging sectors.(Agency)
