Indian Oil District Badminton Championship will be organized by DBA, Jalandhar from 8th to11th August at Raizada Hansraj Stadium.
On Saturday, DBA President and DC, Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal (IAS) released the official poster of the championship. DBA Secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna said that during the championship, singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches will be held in boys, girls, men and women in under-11, 13, 15, 17, 19 & open categories.
In the Veteran category, there will be events for the age group of 35 plus to 65 plus. The fee for each player has been fixed at Rs 850 per event and players can register their names till August 4. More than 500 players are expected to participate in the tournament across 35 events.
Ritin Khanna said that the winners of the tournament will represent Jalandhar in the Punjab Badminton Championships. He said that all players are required to bring their birth certificates.
To prevent age related fraud, DBA has implemented the Aadhaar History Verification System for the first time. He said that the participants can register themselves by coming to Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium with two passport size photographs.
Ritin Khanna said that on 11th August, DC Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal will felicitate the winners while Jalandhar Division Head of Indian Oil, Mr. Rajan Berry will be the special guest. There will be provision for free refreshments during the championship.
Live streaming of the matches will be done. For the first time in the 50 year history of DBA, winners will be given cash & other attractive prizes of worth Rs 5 lakhs.The winners of women’s and men’s singles will be given a cash prize of Rs 21,000 each along with Sindhu and Gopichand trophies.
Former international player ML Mago will be honored with the Raizada Hansraj Sondhi Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of DBA.
Indian Oil, Lining, MKay Wires, Metro Milk, Kartar Valves, Jagatjit Industries, Savi International, NewAge Autos, Foodcoast and LPU have given special support to DBA in this event.
