Taking a strong note of defamatory statements made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader RP Singh against Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the representative organization of Sikhs, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami asked him to desist from vindictive acts.
He said that RP Singh should know that the SGPC is an organization that came into existence after great sacrifices by the Sikhs to take away the Gurdwara administration from the hands of the British government and run it according to Panthic sentiments.
In its 104-year history, this Sikh body has made great achievements in the field of education, health and sports along with the preaching of Sikh faith. He said that distortion of the name of the SGPC as ‘Shiromani Christian Committee’ by RP Singh, shows his intellectual poverty and the lack of Panthic understanding.
Harjinder Singh Dhami said the defamatory statement made by RP Singh has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He should immediately apologize for this vindictive act and desist from such acts from now on. He said that if RP Singh does not desist from such actions, the SGPC would be forced to take legal action against him.
