Sukhjinder Randhawa Questions Modi Govt’s Silence on Deaths of Indian Sailors, Demands Answers

Chandigarh, June 12, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa launched a sharp attack on the Modi Government over the deaths of Indian sailors and attacks on Indian vessels. He said that whenever elections approach, the BJP beats the drum of nationalism, and the Prime Minister travels across the world claiming to make India a “Vishwaguru” (global leader).

However, when the bodies of Indian citizens return home in coffins, the government’s voice suddenly disappears. This silence not only raises serious questions but also casts doubt on the government’s priorities. Why has a strong protest not been lodged in this matter so far?

Randhawa said that during the past four days, three ships were attacked in foreign military actions, resulting in the deaths of Indian sailors, while Indian vessels were also targeted.

This is not merely an international incident; it is a serious issue linked to India’s sovereignty, the safety of its citizens, and national dignity. Surprisingly, neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor his government has issued any concrete statement so far, nor has there been any visible effort to hold the responsible parties accountable.

Randhawa stated that if Indian citizens are killed as a result of actions by a foreign power, it becomes the constitutional and moral responsibility of the Government of India to register a strong protest and ensure accountability at the international level. However, the Modi Government’s silence sends a message that it is entangled in political calculations even when it comes to the lives and dignity of Indian citizens.

The MP questioned what diplomatic steps the government has taken so far in this matter. Has any explanation been sought from the countries concerned? Have the affected families received any assistance or assurance? If not, then what is the government waiting for?

Randhawa demanded that the Central Government immediately clarify its position before Parliament and the people of the country, provide adequate compensation and assistance to the families of the deceased sailors, and take concrete and effective measures to ensure the safety and security of Indian ships and maritime personnel.
