Ravneet Bittu’s Behaviour Disgraceful, Arrogant and Completely Unacceptable: Kuldeep Dhaliwal

Chandigarh, May 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a scathing attack on BJP Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu over his conduct during the municipal corporation elections.

Dhaliwal, who was accompanied by AAP leader Gurpartap Singh Sandhu, strongly condemned Bittu’s misbehaviour with Punjab Police officials and termed his remarks against police officers “shameful, disgraceful and unacceptable.”

Dhaliwal said that thanks to the adequate arrangements made by the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, nearly 99 percent of polling across Punjab was conducted peacefully. However, he said that BJP leaders once again tried to disturb the democratic atmosphere through intimidation and hooliganism.

Condemning Ravneet Bittu’s conduct, Dhaliwal said it was deeply unfortunate that a Union Minister used threatening and abusive language against police officers who were merely performing their duty under Election Commission guidelines. He specifically objected to the remarks made by Bittu towards Sangrur SSP Navjot Kaur Grewal and said using such language against a woman officer reflects the BJP’s arrogance and disrespect towards women.

“It is shameful that a Union Minister openly says that if the SSP had not been a woman, he would have done something terrible to her. What kind of mentality is this? What message is BJP trying to send to the women of this country?” Dhaliwal asked.

The AAP leader also condemned the manhandling of a Punjab Police Sub-Inspector by Bittu and his supporters. He said videos circulating on social media clearly show a police officer being grabbed by the collar and subjected to casteist and abusive language.

Dhaliwal said this was not just an attack on Punjab Police but part of BJP’s larger pattern of misusing power, threatening institutions and trying to spread fear during elections. He said Punjabis have a long history of standing against oppression and no amount of intimidation by BJP leaders will be accepted in Punjab.

“Punjab has never bowed before dictators or arrogant rulers. BJP leaders should read Punjab’s history before trying to threaten Punjabis and police officers,” he said.

Dhaliwal questioned Bittu’s so-called bravery and challenged him to raise the real issues affecting Punjab and the country instead of threatening police officers and seeking media attention.

“If Ravneet Bittu is so brave, why doesn’t he speak on the rising petrol and diesel prices? Why doesn’t he raise Punjab’s issues like BBMB, RDF and the rights of farmers? Diesel prices have increased sharply just before the paddy season, but BJP ministers are silent because they are busy intimidating officials and troubling Punjabis,” Dhaliwal said.

He further said that while the BJP government at the Centre has given negligible increases in MSP, it has imposed a heavy burden on farmers by increasing fuel prices at a crucial time. He accused BJP leaders of avoiding real public issues and instead indulging in divisive and abusive politics.

Dhaliwal also said BJP leaders in Punjab remain silent on issues concerning farmers, unemployment, inflation and the sacrifices of over 750 farmers during the farmers’ movement, but become aggressive only when it comes to threatening officials and violating election rules.

Reiterating AAP’s support for Punjab Police, Dhaliwal said the Bhagwant Mann government stands firmly with every honest officer and employee performing their duty fearlessly. He warned that no one, irrespective of political position, would be allowed to undermine the law or disturb Punjab’s peaceful atmosphere.
