Amritsar, May 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal praised the Punjab Police for exposing a major cyber terror network and arresting the main accused from West Bengal.
Addressing a press conference in Amritsar on Friday, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that since the beginning, the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann has remained committed to ensuring that anyone attempting to spread terror, carry out shootings, explosions, or disturb the atmosphere of the state in any manner will not be spared.
He stated that nowadays, cyber terrorism has emerged as a major new challenge, under which false bomb threats are being issued to schools, colleges, and government buildings. Taking on this challenge firmly, the brave personnel of the Amritsar Police have arrested the main accused of a major cyber terror network from West Bengal.
Dhaliwal said that the arrested individual is a 30-year-old man who had links with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and several other countries and states. He was part of a large gang that spread fear through emails and WhatsApp groups across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and several other states. He is the same person who issued threats to blow up the Punjab Secretariat, Vidhan Sabha, and Sri Darbar Sahib.
Dhaliwal made it clear that controlling cyber terrorism is far more difficult than dealing with conventional terrorism because a person sitting in America, Canada, or any other country can issue threats through cyber platforms.
Despite this, Punjab Police has achieved major success in tackling this challenge. He assured the people of Punjab and Amritsar that there is no need to panic. The AAP government is fully committed to protecting every individual.
Referring to the ongoing campaign against drugs, Dhaliwal said that the Mann government has put even the biggest smugglers behind bars, something that never happened during previous governments.
He also appealed to the Central Government to provide modern anti-drone technology and weapons to BSF personnel deployed along Punjab’s 500-kilometre-long border, which, he said, have not been provided so far.
