Punjab Govt Reallocates Sanjeev Arora’s Portfolios After ED Arrest; Aman Arora, Bains and Sond Get Additional Charge

Chandigarh, May 11, 2026 (Yes Punjab News):

The Punjab Government on Sunday reassigned the portfolios earlier held by arrested Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Arora, who was handling the crucial departments of Local Government, Industries and Commerce, and Power in the Bhagwant Mann-led government, has been divested of all his ministerial responsibilities.

The portfolios have now been distributed among senior Cabinet colleagues, including Aman Arora, Harjot Singh Bains and Tarunpreet Singh Sond.

According to sources, Aman Arora, who is also the President of the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been assigned the Industries and Commerce Department in addition to the portfolios already under his charge.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has been entrusted with the important Local Government Department while continuing to oversee his existing ministries.

Meanwhile, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond has been given additional charge of the Power Department.

Sanjeev Arora was arrested by the ED after raids were conducted at multiple premises linked to him in Punjab, Delhi and Haryana, including his official residence in Chandigarh. The development has triggered significant political reactions in the state, with opposition parties targeting the ruling AAP government over the matter.

The reshuffle is being seen as an attempt by the Punjab Government to ensure smooth functioning of key departments amid the ongoing investigation involving the senior minister.
