Former champions Indian Railways made a winning start by securing three points in the league round of the 41st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by defeating CRPF by a margin of 4-2. Two matches of the league round were played on the third day of the ongoing tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium. In the second match, Indian Oil Mumbai defeated BSF Jalandhar by a margin of 5-4.
Pool C saw a tough fight between Indian Railways Delhi and CRPF Delhi. CRPF Delhi completely dominated the Indian Railways in the first two quarters of the game. In the 7th minute of the game, Saroj Eka of CRPF converted a penalty corner to make the score 1-0. In the 22nd minute of the game Sudhri Horo of CRPF scored a field goal to make the score 2-0. In the 27th minute, Indian Railways international player Jasjit Singh Kular converted the penalty stroke into a goal to make the score 1-2.
