The Telangana government on Friday appointed IPS official Shikha Goel as Principal Secretary, Home.
Goel, an IPS officer of the 1994 batch, is currently serving as the Director General, Vigilance & Enforcement and ex officio Principal Secretary, General Administration Department.
She will continue to hold full additional charge of the posts of Director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and Director, Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory, till further orders, a Government Order issued on Friday said.
Goel’s transfer as Principal Secretary, Home, has triggered speculation that C V. Anand, currently Special Chief Secretary, Home, will be appointed as the new Director General of Police.
Anand, a 1996-batch IPS officer of DG rank, is likely to succeed DGP Shivdhar Reddy, who is retiring from service on April 30.
Anand earlier served as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and twice held the post of Hyderabad city Police Commissioner. He had also served as Police Commissioner of Cyberabad.
The government has also transferred six other IPS officers. Additional Director General of Police, Personnel, Devendra Singh Chauhan, has been posted as Director General (Vigilance & Enforcement) and ex officio Principal Secretary, General Administration Department.
Director General, Drugs Control Administration, Shahnawaz Qasim, has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Multi-Zone-II. He has also been placed in full additional charge of the post of Inspector General of Police, Personnel.
Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Tarun Joshi will be the new Commissioner of Police of Future City, in place of G. Sudheer Babu, who is superannuating from service on April 30.
Malkajgiri Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty has been transferred and posted as Director General, Drugs Control Administration and Director, Prohibition & Excise. He has also been placed in full additional charge of the post of Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau, till further orders.
IGP, SIB, Intelligence, B. Sumathi, has been posted as Malkajgiri Police Commissioner.
