Dr. Yogita Sharma, University Librarian at the Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been conferred the Best Librarian Award 2024 by India’s Association of Agricultural Librarians and Documentalists.
The accolade was presented during the 4th International Conference of Agricultural Librarians and User Community, themed “Technological Transformations in Agricultural Library and Information Systems and Services in the Artificial Intelligence Era,” hosted by Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar, on November 22-23, 2024.
Dr. Sharma, who joined PAU in 2000 as an Assistant Librarian, has over 26 years of service in academic libraries. She has authored 30 publications, including two books, and serves as PAU’s nodal officer for the ICAR Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) and Co-Principal Investigator (CCPI) of the ICAR E-granth project under the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES).
Her contributions include the automation and digitization of library systems, the implementation of RFID technology, and the execution of anti-plagiarism measures at PAU.
Acknowledging her remarkable contributions and commitment to modernizing library systems, PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Director of Research Dr A.S. Dhatt, Director of Extension Dr M.S. Bhullar, and Additional Director of Communication Dr Tejinder Singh Riar congratulated her and commended her vision and hard work.
