Chandigarh, April 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Misl Satluj, a political organisation committed to safeguarding Punjab’s interests, is fast emerging as a strong alternative political force in the state. The organisation aims to protect Punjab’s economic, social, and cultural rights while steering the state back toward growth and prosperity.
Over the past five years, Misl Satluj has consistently raised people-centric issues and advocated for Punjab’s rightful demands.
The organisation noted that the state is currently facing several serious challenges, including rising unemployment among youth, the agrarian crisis, sensitive river water disputes, industrial decline, and threats to cultural identity. It emphasised that these issues require practical and forward-looking solutions rather than mere political rhetoric.
Misl Satluj believes that Punjab’s progress depends on a political approach that ensures the state’s primary rights over its natural and economic resources, while strengthening constitutional balance in Centre-State relations. It also stressed the need for fresh policy perspectives in education, healthcare, industry, and agriculture to bring Punjab back into the mainstream of development.
Addressing a press conference here today, Misl Satluj President Ajaypal Singh Brar announced that the organisation will actively contest the 2027 Punjab assembly elections and field candidates across various constituencies. He added that special emphasis will be placed on ensuring significant and active participation of women and youth in this political movement.
He further informed that the “Poora Punjab Lehar” campaign, launched from Mohali on February 17 under the convenorship of Amarinder Singh Toor, has received overwhelming support across different cities of Punjab, particularly from women and youth, thereby strengthening the organisation.
On the occasion, Brar expressed satisfaction in announcing that Kunwar Jagbir Singh, son of late former BSP MLA Singara Ram Sahungra, has joined Misl Satluj. Jagbir Singh assured the organisation of his full support in fighting for Punjab’s rightful demands and committed to working actively to ensure greater participation of backward classes in constituencies where the organisation fields its candidates.
Prominent members present at the event included General Secretary Davinder Singh Sekhon, Vice President Hardeep Singh Dodd, Women’s Wing President Jasmeet Kaur Chhina, and senior youth leader Amarinder Singh Toor, who is also the convenor of the Poora Punjab Lehar campaign.
