Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the SAD was committed to spending Rs 500 crore towards the integrated development of Naya Gaon once it formed the government in the State.
Addressing a public meeting here while campaigning for the municipal elections, the SAD president said “we are committed to the holistic development of Naya Gaon. We will legalise all colonies and ensure a modern road network and provision of sewerage and public lighting facilities. We will also upgrade the area and make it part and parcel of New Chandigarh in all aspects”.
Asserting that he had a personal connect with Naya Gaon and that former chief minister S Parkash Singh Badal had also spent a lot of time in the area, Mr Badal said “it is a matter of great concern that this area has been completely ignored by both the previous Congress and the present AAP government.
Even basic facilities are not being provided to the people”. He assured that he would visit the same spot one year after the SAD government was formed and ask the people if all their grievances had been resolved or not”.
Mr Badal also lauded the good work being done by Ravinder Singh Khera on the occasion and urged the people of the area to strengthen him. Others who were present on the occasion included party leader Gurdhyan Singh and SGPC member Ajmer Singh Khera.
